Winston and his handler, Sergeant Barbara Stroud graduated from our facility on July 9, 2004. The heat and humidity were unbearable during their training, but the weather didn't slow them down! Some of their more amazing tracks included a long track laid during a very intense rainstorm ("monsoon" is a good word) that managed to wash most of the scent away; a track that was over a mile long; and my favorite: a 550 yard track that was 7 days old. Since returning to Greensville County, Virginia, Winston and Sgt. Stroud have been called out on three criminal tracks and they have been successful every time. Their third track was five days old and three miles long.

Winston and Sgt. Stroud continue to make great strides. They have been called out to assist neighboring counties as well as the Virginia State Police. Winston has successfully tracked armed robbery suspects that got into a car and drove away from the scene.
