Annie--Our Second Dog

Lambert Ohia and John Hall of the Honolulu Police Department spent two weeks training with Annie at our facility in North Carolina. They took Annie back to Honolulu with them in October 2003. After spending a month in quarantine, Annie was officially turned over to the Honolulu Police Department by Mark Bennett, Hawaii's Attorney General.

No sooner had Annie been turned over, than she was called out to help search for an Alzheimer's patient who had wandered away from his home. Annie was instrumental in helping to locate the man who had fallen down a steep hill near his home.

Since her first find, Annie has also located a second Alzheimer's patient on a neighboring island. By tracking two other people from their cars to the point at which they jumped off cliffs, Annie has also located the bodies of two people who chose to commit suicide. While we wish that the outcomes of these two cases could have been different, they were people who were intent on ending their lives. We do feel that, in helping to locate their bodies, Annie has been able to help bring closure to the families of these people.
