In June of 2006, Katie flew all the way to Hilo, Hawaii to meet her new partner, Officer B. J. Duarte of the Hawaii County Police Department. Mike and Linda made a whirlwind trip to Hawaii to teach Officer Duarte how to work with and understand Katie. In addition to trailing, Katie is also trained in cadaver recovery and building searches. Katie will serve the Hilo side of the Big Island.
